Do You Hear That Buzzing?

The fan-favorite Bees will soon be here, and with them comes a brand new game mode: Defense.

Defense mode is unlike anything you have played in Brick-Force until this point. Defense is a co-operative game mode rather than competitive. Four players will work together to stop waves of AI-enemies (the Bees) from reaching the designated endpoint on the map.

But these aren’t domicile Bees; they’ll fight back on sight and will protect their own! Various types of Bees will spawn, including “Ghost” bees than can become temporarily intangible and Bees that are on a timer that, if not killed quickly, will explode and blind the field of vision on screen.

If players are resilient enough at fighting off the relentless waves, they will face the Destroyer, the king of all Bees! Taking down this foe will require everything players have got in their arsenal, and then some.

Users will also be able to build maps for Defense mode with the same tools our developers use. Players will be able to define where the Bees spawn from, where the endpoint is for them to reach, what path they will take reach it, and what types of enemies will generate on each wave. Defense mode is deeply customizable.

We can’t wait for the community to get their hands on this brand new mode, and we hope to implement it very soon. Until then, sit tight!

Brick-Force is Now Open for Business

It’s been quite a year, and Brick-Force has officially launched! What does this mean for you?

First of all: no more friend keys. The game is open for anyone to download and play. If you’re on Mac, we’ve even released our browser version. We’ve also added a load of new content.

If you’ve been with us since closed beta, you’ll feel comfortable with the core game and we hope you’re excited for the new additions. If you’re just joining Brick-Force, we hope you enjoy our game!

As always, player feedback is crucial to the development process to ensure that we deliver the best product possible. Therefore, we invite you to sound off on our forums in the Feedback and Suggestions section. We take everything to heart, and our staff maintains a daily presence there, as well.

On behalf of everyone here at Infernum Productions and our co-developers at EXE Games, thank you for your support. We guarantee that we’ll continue to work our hardest to bring you the best Brick-Force experience.

The atmosphere here at Infernum is brimming with excitement. We can’t wait to bring you this new update, which may be one of our biggest ever.

It was an intense evening for the team yesterday, with many of us not going home overnight. But spirits are still high and we aim to bring the servers back online today, complete with new features.

To hold you over, we’re going to give you a sneak preview at one of our unannounced additions: the upgrade system!

That’s right, when servers go back online players will be able to upgrade their weapons and equipment! This has been a often-requested feature and we are thrilled to implement it. Stay tuned to this blog and our Twitter feed to stay up-to-date with what’s going on today.

Good luck surviving in this Map of the Week.

Hyun Answers Your Questions

How long has Brick-Force taken to make so far?

We first began work on Brick-Force on the 11th Jan, 2011.

What was your inspiration for Brick Force?

We wanted to make a game that players can develop together. Actually, to begin with sandbox mode was very different, and all of the blocks had to fit into each other like Tetris or Lego. There were a few performance and game design related issues, so we decided to go for simple cubes in the end.

What’s makes Brick-Force more unique than the other shooter/building games out there?

What’s more unique than anything else is the imagination of our players. It’s you that makes Brick-Force a unique game with every new map that’s built.

Will there ever be action blocks? such as doors you can open and close, blocks that could make noise when touched (like an alarm system) or things like a health pad and ammo box?

Absolutely! We are actively working on such things, and we are very excited about the possibilities.

What advice would you give to indie game developers?

I am still learning new things every day while working on Brick-Force. I wouldn’t be so bold to give advice just yet.

Will there be crouching?

We’ve had discussions about this topic and we are certainly considering crouching, and also thinking how to implement it visually. As you probably noticed, our characters have short legs and big heads.

Why have you used Asian sounds in the game?

We’re working on implementing Western sounds very soon. We have a very cool surprise involving the sounds which we hope to reveal soon. You’ll just have to wait a bit longer to find out… :)

When will the iOS and Android versions be released?

We still have quite a number of hurdles to overcome. We are expecting iOS and Android versions to be ready by the Summer.

What is your favorite color?

Interestingly, I don’t have favorite color.

Are there going to be bots for offline play or to fill empty spots for multiplayer? Like in Counter-Strike?

Do you mean single player? Currently I am focusing on the multiplayer features and don’t have plans for plans for implementing single player mode yet.

Do you have plans to implement a shooter mode where you could also do brick building?

Our team have considered this idea and even written some game design documents about it. We will have to see if it will be feasible. Let’s see what the future holds!

Is there ever going to be a spectator mode?

No plans for spectator mode yet.

Will any weapons be permanently buyable?

I can’t answer yet. This is still being determined.

What’s your favorite sandwich?

Sandwiches aren’t very popular in South Korea, so I don’t have a favorite sandwich. I like eating seafood, especially crabs, but I’ve never tried a sandwich with crabs before. Do you think it would be tasty?
